As the national spokesperson for Wacoal America, Liz Smith knows a thing or two about finding a bra that fits, taking care of lingerie and body shapers. Check out her blog for even more advice.
How many bras should a woman own and why?
A woman should own a wardrobe of bras that suits her lifestyle. She should have one with seams, one without, a contour, push up, minimizer (if needed), a sports bra, t-back and a strapless. Once she finds a favorite, she needs three of that one style-one to wear, one to wash, and one in the drawer to rest. This will extend the lifespan of her bra wardrobe.
Which bra color works best with the most outfits?
Nude.
How often should bras be replaced and why?
Depending on how a bra is cared for, how often it is worn, and if it is properly fitted, the rule of thumb is after 100 washings and 100 wearings, a bra should be retired. The elastics will give out and lose the ability to give the support needed.
What's the most versatile bra style?
A convertible contour.
What's the best way to put on a bra?
Bending over from the waist, slip arms through the straps and let breasts fall into the cups, clasp hook and eye, and stand up straight.
How can a woman tell if her bra fits correctly?
Looking at yourself in the mirror, make sure that all of your breast tissue is contained in the cups of the bra. Nothing should be spilling out or bubbling over. The underwire should touch the center of the chest wall and never touch breast tissue, but clear the breast completely. The back of the bra should be snug around the body and sit low.
How often should a woman get measured for a bra?
At least once a year, or if she gains or loses five to seven pounds.
Do small breasted women need to wear a bra?
Absolutely.
How can a woman know if her bra straps are adjusted correctly?
The straps should feel comfortable and not slip off of her shoulders.
How do you measure your bra size?
To find out the inches: Take a snug measurement around your rib cage directly under your bust. To get the most accurate reading, make sure the tape measure rests flat on the skin and goes straight across your back.
To find out the cup size: Measure around the fullest part of your bust, making sure the tape measure lies flat against your body. For an accurate bra size, check out this handy feature on Wacoal.com.
How many pairs of panties should a woman own and why?
Depending on how often she does her laundry, if she is a "matchy- matchy" gal, or if she wears shapewear, a minimum of 14 pairs.
What's the best way to eliminate visible panty lines?
Thongs, mesh, long leg shapers, boy legs-find the best silhouette for your body type. Like a bra, we are all built a bit differently.
How long will body shapers last?
Same rule applies as a bra, depending on how you care for them, how often you wear them, and if you are wearing the correct size.
What's the best method for determining the size needed for body shapers?
Buy your normal pant size. If you wear a medium, choose a medium. Do not go too big as you will not get the results that you want.
What is the best way to put on a body shaper?
Depending on the amount of control in the garment, folding the panty in half, stepping into it, and rolling it up is usually the easiest way to get into it.
