Glitter nail polish is fun: It's flirty, attention getting and sticks to your nails like glue, which is a definite problem when it comes time to remove it. I had the chance to ask Deborah Lipmann, creator of Bad Romance (right), Happy Birthday and other iconic glitter-y shades how to remove the polishes when it's time. "We love glitter polish because it stays on our nails," she said. "But we hate glitter polish because it stays on your nails."
Her advice: use an acetone-based nail polish remover on a wipe or a cotton ball, let it soak on your finger to dissolve the polish for at least 30 seconds, then swipe off. Avoid rubbing your cuticle, because that can damage the tender skin. I was surprised she recommended an acetone-based nail polish remover as we've heard for years how bad these are for our nails. She suggests looking for one that contains moisturizing ingredients, like the one from her line Stripper to Go with lavender that is gentler on nails.
