I’m always on the lookout for a long-lasting lip gloss. I love the shine of gloss—it’s an instant way to make lips look plumper—but so many brands wear off before I’ve even finished my first cup of coffee. On the other end of the gloss spectrum, I find many so-call long-wearing glosses are overly sticky or end up forming unattractive lip crusties after a few hours. With that in mind, I put Clinique’s Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 to the test.

How Did the Long-Lasting Lip Gloss Feel Going On?

The long-lasting lip gloss has a pleasant texture that is thick, but not overly tacky. My lips felt moisturized and soothed immediately after I put it on. The wand applicator was easy to use and distributed the right amount of gloss. There wasn’t any excess, so I didn’t need to blot my lips.

How Does the Color Look?

I tested Fireberry, a medium pink, which was a nice compliment to my fair complexion. Some reviewers on the Clinique site complained the colors in general were not strong enough for them, but I didn’t have that issue. If you do want to boost the color, along with the staying power of the gloss, line your entire mouth with a lip pencil before applying the gloss. Clinique’s Long Last Glosswear comes in 19 different colors.

Did This Long-Wearing Gloss Deliver on Its Promise?

Clinique’s website says that the Long Last Glosswear will last up to eight hours. In my experience, it made it a respectable four. It stayed put during my morning coffee, but I needed to reapply it after I ate. The gloss remained smooth and didn’t dry out my lips.

Is This Long-Wearing Gloss Right for You?

If you’re a gloss fan, like me, you’ll be happy with this purchase. While it didn’t stay on the advertised eight hours, it easily lasted between meals. It keeps lips moisturized and isn’t overly sticky. As an added bonus, it has SPF 15 to protect lips from the sun’s damaging rays. With 19 colors, there’s a shade for everyone.
